On Deck Academy would like to congratulate Max Castro (2019 On Deck O's/South Mecklenburg High School) on his commitment to Guilford College! Max has been an important member of the pitching staff at On Deck, and he has worked tirelessly to create an opportunity for himself at the college level. Max really knows how to pitch. He changes speeds well, stays ahead of hitters and he commands three pitches in the zone.
When it comes to work ethic and goal-setting, he sets a great example for those around him, and especially for younger players striving to follow in his footsteps. Max set lofty goals and he fully committed to achieving those goals through buying into the program and taking advantage of every extra opportunity to improve. We are very proud of his accomplishment!
We would also like to congratulate Max's family on this wonderful achievement, as well as the coaching staff at South Meck. Additionally, we would like to recognize Coach Black and the Guilford Baseball Coaching Staff for taking notice of the special student-athlete Max Castro is on and off the field. We look forward to following his success at the next level.
