WINTER PRE-SEASON TRAINING




Want to become a better player this off-season? Look no further! Our Winter Pre-Season Training Program will take place over 7 weeks and will have two phases of focus; hitting/strength (3 weeks) and defense/speed & agility (3 weeks).  We will work in small groups to keep the player to coach ratio low and to maximize reps. Each group will meet two days per week.
 

Weekly Focus

Week 1 (Dec. 16-19) - Introduction to hitting work and strength routine
Weeks 2-4 (Jan. 6-23) - Hitting and strength
Weeks 5-7 (Jan.27-Feb. 13) - Defense and speed/agility (we will continue to hit during these weeks)
 

Hitting and Strength Phase

During this phase of the Winter Workout program, players will execute and engage in routines that merge performance training with sport specific skill development in the specific area of hitting. As players begin to focus on hitting they will experience how a focused emphasis on performance-based training directly impacts swing mechanics and power at the plate.

Athletes are taken through a carefully designed series of movements aimed at developing rotational power, anti-rotational strength, and hip-to-shoulder separation - key components of an explosive and efficient swing.

Rotational power exercises enhance the athlete's ability to generate force from the ground up, transferring energy through the core and into the bat.
Anti-rotational strength movements improve stability and control, helping hitters resist unwanted movement and maintain proper mechanics under high-intensity conditions.
The focus on hip-to-shoulder separation improves the ability to create torque by maximizing the stretch and recoil between the lower and upper body, leading to faster bat speed and greater exit velocity.

This phase is about improving swing mechanics and building the capacity to repeat those mechanics consistently while reducing fatigue AND reducing the risk of injury. By integrating these performance elements into a player’s training, athletes are better equipped to drive the ball with power, improve their timing, and maintain control during the most critical moments of the game.

Participating players will also be given full access to the On Deck App for the duration of the program.  Through the app, we will provide guided workout routines for the players to execute on their on, two additional days during the week.
